We built Reddit in three weeks. It was just Web links and text submitted by users, with Interesting or Uninteresting buttons that you could click on underneath. Simple: Thats all it was. After a contentious debate, we added Comments. We knew our business was in our user base, that that was the most important part.
More often than not, Reddit can churn out some really useful knowledge. I was particularly impressed with a thread on the AskReddit forum entitled “What are some things I should know as my parents get older?”. Here’s a summary of the top contributions (warning, some NSFW language).
